Have you heard of the clavicut? This current “beauty buzzword” describes mid-length, in-between hair, long bobs, and shoulder-length styles. The name comes from the fact that the longest layers of this type of cut graze the clavicle, and this collarbone-skimming style has become the hairdo of choice due to its functionality and ease. It’s been a long few seasons of bobs, lobs, swags, shags, etc. You may have opted for one of these styles, or seriously thought about it and decided to keep your long layers anyway. The Clavicut is a trend almost anyone can get behind; young or mature,  growing out a shorter cut, or looking for a change to the same old “long”.

This style can be tailored to your face shape and hair type, although this length is great for anyone. Consider blunt edges for a more dramatic look, or soft layers to blend thicker textures. To make it more modern, opt for bangs with your clavicut for a statement look.

With this length; wearing your hair down won’t weigh you down and up-styles are still romantic. You will still have enough length to successfully air dry, without having a tangled mess or tons of flyaways – it is the perfect middle ground for easy styling and easy care. Although saying good-bye to your long locks might sound scary, this cut could be life changing, in the best way. Opt for a new outlook with this style and shed some of your inhibitions along with those inches. Call: (216) 292-4247 to schedule an appointment for your new look today!

How to Tell If Short Hair Will Look Good on You

All you need is a ruler and a pencil ~

It is a question hairstylists and reliable friends are often asked; “do you think short hair would look good on me?” Thanks to celebrities recently liberating their locks with crops, bobs and lobs, that question gets asked more often than not.

Well the question of flattery has a short answer: The 2.25″ (5.5cm) rule.

The magic measurement was discovered by hairstylist, John Frieda and it is all about the angles. The angle of the jaw bone determines whether or not someone would look best with short hair or long hair. It is said the result is a trusted, easy and exact measurement that can indicated whether a face (any face) is suited to short or long hair.

To try it, position a pencil or pen under your chin horizontally and then place a ruler under your ear, vertically. Take your measurement from the intersection of the pencil and ruler. Less than 2.25″ and you could  look amazing with short hair, and if it’s anything more long locks will be the most flattering choice for you.
